Key Responsibilities
Design water distribution, pumping, and treatment systems
Design sanitary sewer collection, pumping, and wastewater treatment facilities
Prepare and submit permit applications to local, state, and federal agencies
Perform process and hydraulic calculations for equipment sizing and selection
Conduct hydraulic modeling for water and wastewater systems
Prepare feasibility studies, engineering evaluations, and technical reports
Develop contract drawings, technical specifications, and cost estimates
Provide construction-phase engineering services, including: Contractor submittal reviews; RFIs and pay request processing; Job conferences and field coordination
Oversee construction and installation of water/wastewater facilities
Prepare user rate and tapping fee studies
Assist with proposal development, project scope, and fee preparation

Resolve major disputes with vendors and subcontractors.
Manage startup and commissioning of facility, where applicable.
Provide owner training to the end user and turn-over contract close-out deliverables.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS INCLUDES BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

Monitoring and adjustment of plant processes, operation and maintenance of pumps, electrical control equipment, and valves perform troubleshooting of equipment, preventative maintenance, and conduct both minor and major repairs and/or replacement of equipment. Performs pH, temperature, DO, colorimetric, and other measurements including microscopic examinations of samples. Routine calibration of lab equipment. Checks meters, gauges, and control panels. Controls flow patterns with gate and valve adjustments.

Other duties include collection system inspections, maintenance, and repairs. Operate a motor vehicle and other machinery. Perform custodial duties at the pump stations & wastewater treatment plants. Handle chemicals used in the treatment process such as chlorine, lime, caustic soda, soda ash, etc. Dig ditches and holes. Groundskeeping at Wastewater Treatment Plants and Pump Stations. Locate manholes, sewer lines, and laterals for Pennsylvania One Call Requests. Operate various snow removal equipment and/or mow grass with push or riding mowers and/or do other physical labor as required. Perform other duties as assigned.

The position requires you to be on-call, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis. Electrical and Mechanical knowledge is a must. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. Work is performed inside and outside year-round.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator position is responsible for operating and maintaining the wastewater treatment facility and sanitary sewer collection system.

The scope of work includes but is not limited to monitoring and adjustments of the treatment plant process, flow reading, collecting samples, lab sampling and testing, and installation/maintenance/repair of mechanical pumps and controls.
